Jiu Jitsu is extremely deadly if one knows how to get locks in quickly. It is an art that has been used by Japanese warriors in the event that they lose their swords and fall to the ground. Today, it is an essential part of any MMA arsenal.

When it comes to weaponry, one of the most effective would be Arnis or Kali, as it is known in the west. Arnis is a combat style that hails from the forests of the Philippines and consists mainly of stick fighting with elements of knife fighting and boxing. The main principle of Arnis is to make the weapon an extension of the hands with one being able to make quick moves that can potentially kill.

The last on the list is Krav Maga and is one of the more popular self defense styles that a lot of people are learning today. Krav Maga comes from Israel and has its roots in military type of combat that is practical and ruthless. Krav Maga makes use of moves that are normally banned in competitions but very good for when an aggressor on the streets attacks.

If one is looking for the most practical styles for self defense and for the streets, these styles are definitely the ones that should be learned. The main focus of these styles is not theatrics or fancy moves but moves that actually work. Of course, these moves have to be practiced consistently if one would want them to become a second nature for the body.
